HAVIL 

“Havil” means virtue or character. We have the privilege of working with a school community that is committed to modelling, expecting and recognising good character in our students. We believe that students learn these qualities through the example that we set for them and by consistently putting them into practice. 

Character

Character is a matter of the heart. It cannot be taught, it must be caught. We recognise the important role that parents and teachers play in shaping the way our children respond in situations that test their patience, integrity, honesty and grit. At Havil, we seek to employ the 5 Havil Principles in our day-to-day interactions with one another - staff, parents, families, students and the wider school community. If we want to see change in our next generation, it has to start with us! 

Competence

Each one of our students have something to bring to the table. We are entrusted with the responsibility to raise a generation of learners who will not crumble under pressure, who recognise the importance of caring for others - expecting nothing in return, and who choose to live by the principles and values that have been instilled in them even if they have to endure hardship and difficulties.

Community

We cannot take full credit for the successes that we witness as a school. Every member in our school community - staff, parents, families, friends, students - share the privilege of growing and learning together. The values that we choose to develop in one another help make sense of all that we do as a school and give purpose to the contribution that we make in our wider community.
