Resident Physicians work alongside the Medical Officers and they are given more responsibility and duties in addition to the duties of a House Officer (HO). He/She is immediately responsible for the management of patients in the wards and have the primary duty of guiding and supervising the HOs. He/She will also assist in running outpatient clinics, review treatment of cases, brief next of kin on patients’ conditions, explaining procedures and operations, etc.

To ensure the accuracy and completion of the Hospital Inpatient Discharge Summary (HIDS) Forms and the diagnosis & disease index on the front sheet of the case records. In cases of difficulty, the Senior Medical Staff (Registrar and above) should be consulted.
